So earlier me, my mom and dad were watching the news when they started talking about the passing of same-sex marriage in New York last night. This led me to doing a celebratory dance since I was excited that this country is moving forward in the fight for equality and that one day all of my LGBTQ friends will have the ability to be able to participate in a ceremony that many of us take for granted. This prompted my dad to play the “Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve” card, so in rebuttal I played the
-No tattoos (Leviticus 19:28)
-No touching pigskin (Leviticus 11:7)
-No approaching God’s altar with any blemish of the eye (Leviticus 21:20)
-No cutting of the hair around the temple (Leviticus 19:27)
This yielded two responses:
One: He shut up and shared a look of surprise with my mom before going upstairs.
Two: My mom told me how proud she was of me for sticking up for my beliefs.
Love conquers all.
